A youth was arrested for trying to steal a car from a neighbourhood in Jalan Stephen Yong at 1.35 am today.

The owner of the car saw three unidentified men near his car and alerted the police.

Police who rushed to the scene arrested the 19 year old suspect while the other two managed to escape.

Meanwhile, an engineer slept through while his mother was robbed with a parang held against her neck at 4 am yesterday in their house at Batu Lintang.

The 33 year-old engineer said his mother knocked his room and looked fearful.

She told him that two Indonesian had used parang and put against her neck while robbing her of her gold rings, necklace and a box of coins in her room.

They then tied her up. She said she managed to free herself.
